Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to witness and capture one of life's most beautiful moments—a surprise proposal at Lake Harding in Fortson, GA. Let me tell you, it was an experience filled with excitement, nerves, and pure joy!
The day before the proposal, I ventured out to Lake Harding to scout the perfect spot for this special occasion. As I explored the area, I quickly realized that finding a discreet location would be tricky. With limited hiding spots, I decided my best strategy was to blend in as someone enjoying the serene waterside views with a good book in hand.
During my visit, I had the pleasure of chatting with Whit, the soon-to-be groom. He shared a bit about himself and Taylor, the love of his life. From our brief conversation, it was evident just how much he adored her and was eager to make this moment unforgettable. He shared that they had recently taken a ski trip to Utah, and he had planned to surprise her there but when she fell and broke her arm he had to come up with a new plan!
On the day of the proposal, my nerves were on edge. I was worried that Taylor might spot me and suspect what was happening. As Whit and Taylor strolled past me, my heart raced, but I managed to discreetly pull out my camera and start capturing the magic unfolding before me.
When they reached the dock, my excitement soared as Whit got down on one knee. Taylor's face lit up with joy and surprise, and my camera clicked away, freezing that precious moment in time forever.
Witnessing their love story unfold right in front of me was truly magical. As a photographer specializing in newborns in Columbus, GA, this experience was quite different from my usual sessions. Yet, it served as a beautiful reminder of where all the stories I capture begin—the love and commitment shared between two people embarking on a new chapter of their lives.
I'm filled with excitement and happiness for Whit and Taylor as they start this incredible journey together. Being part of their proposal was a privilege, and I can't wait to see what beautiful moments await them in the future.
